Upcoming teacher orientaton

Dear Friends and Family,

We hope you’re enjoying summer time. The abundant rain we had in Texas in May made the national news. We were actually away during most of that time enjoying a nephew’s high school graduation in Chicago and having a week’s vacation in Tennessee.

Lynée's annual teacher orientation is coming up June 26-July 2 in Orlando. Afterwards, she will attend strategy meetings related to missionary children care and education through July 6. Praise the Lord that almost 20 teachers are scheduled to attend. Please pray that she will think of all the preparations that are needed and that she will not let the stress of deadlines steal her joy. One of the major things she’s responsible for during the orientation is a cross-cultural airport simulation that takes a lot of volunteers. Please pray she can find all the volunteers needed. Also pray that the teachers will be well equipped to serve children and families participating in Bible translation roles overseas.

In November, my team released a new version of our fonts, and in March, we released those same fonts, each chopped into eight smaller pieces with just the letters needed for various regions of the world (see scripts.sil.org/FontSubsets). The smaller fonts download more quickly from web pages and take less space on phones. The March release was based on standard font technology (called OpenType), but those smaller fonts do not work in a certain app being widely used to distribute Scripture on phones. (That app, Scripture App Builder, can display languages that YouVersion can’t.) We need to release another version of the smaller fonts based on different font technology (called Graphite). Please pray for us as we create this new release.

Sharing vernacular Scripture: Asia

Asia [2015-06-12] -- Pray for a young believer in one language community. Her access to the Bible was through the majority language and she'd had no exposure to the Bible in her native tongue. She was moved to tears when she saw the resources available in her own language, saying, “Now I can really help my brother to become a follower of Jesus, too.” When she tried out the test version of the Bible app on her mobile phone, she figured out how to use it right away. She is now wanting to be involved in the translation project. Praise God for His work in the lives of new Christians. Thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement. Please reply and let us know your prayer needs.

In the love, joy, and peace of Jesus
