Teacher orientation preparations and a broken computer

Dear Friends and Family,

We hope your summer is getting off to a good start. We’ve had unusually cool and wet weather so far for June in Texas. Thankfully, none of the storms that have impacted north Texas have caused us any damage. We celebrated our 23rd anniversary on June 8 by hiking in the morning and seeing a movie and having dinner in north Dallas in the evening. We’re grateful for the years God has given us together.

Lynee
Our orientation for teachers who will be serving overseas is June 30-July 5. I (Lynee) am trying to finish producing materials and getting them printed, and I’ve been working with logistics this year as well. Because we have only 10 participants instead of the normal 20, I need to use a different printing company. Please pray I can find the right one and prepare the material correctly and on time -- and pray for peace in the midst of it all. Pray the participants will learn all they can to be better prepared to serve our children overseas. Also, pray for those who are seeking to find what God wants for them and if teaching missionary kids should be a part of their future. We had three seekers last year, and all of them are pursuing careers with Wycliffe in some capacity now -- this year we have at least two.

Alan
On Monday morning, the laptop computer I (Alan) use at work ceased to function. The battery and motherboard (and possibly other components) were damaged by a power surge. Please pray that our IT department can find all the problems and fix them soon. In the meantime, I’m using an older laptop that I had from before my current one.

I’m working on a system for testing the Roman fonts I help create. This work is part of our efforts to develop a more open way of creating the fonts so future updates and maintenance will be easier. It’s important to verify that the fonts still work in the same way as they did when they were created with the older system and to verify new features are working correctly. Please for wisdom and creativity in designing and implementing these tests.
