Persecution in the Americas

Dear Friends and Family,

We have been enjoying the cooler weather of autumn and hope you have as well. We’re about to go on another trip - a shorter one. Below is a prayer update for a group of believers who do not live far from another group where Lynee’s uncle and aunt have been working on a Bible translation for decades. After that is a personal update.

Pray for freedom of religion: Americas

A group of indigenous people who have put their faith in Christ are being persecuted for not following traditional religious rites. The country guarantees freedom of religion. But, the Constitution grants autonomy to this people group on their own land and the government has not wanted to interfere in the group’s internal affairs. Those who follow Jesus may need to leave their homes and purchase land in a safer area, in order to grow crops and build houses and a school. There are signs that some government agencies seem open to helping the believers with their needs. Decisions made could/will have significant impact on other indigenous groups in the country and the Americas. Please pray for their safety and well-being. Pray for God’s strong intervention for His people.

Personal Update

We had a wonderful visit to Georgia back in September. We were able to contact about 28 families and spoke to four groups. It was encouraging to see so many people and catch up on their lives. Afterwards, we enjoyed a week of vacation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. (Thanks to some friends!) Here’s a link to a few (7) photos.

Since getting back to Dallas, I’ve been busy finishing up the last work on our Gentium Plus font, which is now available on the Web. Lynee has updated the training catalog her team provides, which lists the training events worldwide for our members and partners. She’s also getting ready for two directors coming for orientation in December.

Tomorrow, we are leaving for Seattle for a few days (Nov. 4 - 9) to celebrate my grandfather’s 95th birthday. It will also be a good chance to see my dad’s side of the family, which I don’t know as well as my mom’s side and most of whom Lynee has not met. My parents and sister’s family will be there too. Please pray for a good trip and visit.

May the Glory and Goodness of God sustain you today.
