Wards' update - transitions, completion, quiz
Dear Friends & Family,
We hope you are enjoying the spring weather. Lynee and I went hiking yesterday afternoon and enjoyed the less-than-scorching temperatures we’re having now. We’re planning to drive to Nashville this weekend (May 18) to attend our oldest niece’s high school graduation and then go to Kentucky for a week of vacation. Along the way, we’ll also celebrate a special milestone birthday for Lynee with her parents and brother’s family.
Transitions
Lynee has four people from Papua New Guinea here now going through director’s orientation. She’s also made good progress adding resources to her team’s website. (See www.iched.org/transitions for the latest items.) After our vacation, she’ll begin working with her manager on teacher orientation, which occurs June 24-30 (for teachers going overseas to work with missionary kids). Please pray for more teachers to register (15 have so far) and for a great orientation course.
Completion
I am rejoicing at the completion of a project that had been dragging on for nearly a year. Last week I finished updating the system we use to test our fonts. The work stalled out several times due to various technical roadblocks and as higher priority tasks came along. Over the last two weeks, I really enjoyed working on it and getting back into some computer languages I haven’t used in several years (C/C++). After vacation, I will start work on incorporating some technology in our fonts that will get them ready to work with new language and typographic features that Microsoft and others will be providing in their software.
We also are rejoicing that our shortfall in committed giving has declined to about $300/mon. Donations given in memory of a dear friend and other occasional gifts have helped to cover that shortfall. We are so very grateful for those who support our work through prayer and giving. Thank you!
