Ward News: He has overcome!

Dear friends & family, Merry Christmas! We pray you are experiencing the Grace and Joy of Jesus in this season. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33) In September, Lynée's parents caught covid, which caused us to postpone our planned trip to Georgia. Eventually, Lynée and I both caught it too. We were not able to find a time when we could reschedule our trip and missed seeing people there this year. Since that time my father in Georgia was in the hospital and rehab for over seven weeks because of pulmonary disease. Lynée's mom has been diagnosed with the return of breast cancer which has metastasized. I could list other (lesser) troubles. Lynée and I are feeling mixtures of anxiety, sadness, and anger along with peace, confidence in God’s goodness/plans, and thankfulness in how He is meeting us. Troubles ... but He has overcome. There is hope rooted in who He is and what He has, is, and will do. We are thankful for all those who have prayed, sent encouraging messages, helped with meals, and especially for Lynée's siblings' help. Wycliffe's work around the world is progressing at the fastest rate in history! For 2023, the statistics show the number of languages with no Scripture that need translation to start dropped by over 400 (to about 1,270). That's more than one start per day. Thank you for your part in supporting this work through prayer, giving, and encouragement! We did just get good news from the oncologist for Lynée’s mom. Her cancer should respond well to hormone treatment and its advance should be quite slow. Since she has no pain in her bones, the cancer is not very advanced. Praise God!
